No, Android Auto 6.0 will probably not be a big game changer.
If there was a way to bet on Reddit, I would be ready to put my money where my mouth is but, instead, I'm gonna give you some straight facts on what actually will come on Android Auto in the next few months. So, let's talk about numbering first. 6.0 doesn't mean it's gonna be a major update. The biggest update that Android Auto received was with version 4.8 that was the first one with support to the new UI. More "major" updates: Android Auto 4.9: launcher re-arranging, weather, Assistant Actions Android Auto 4.3: introduction of different resolutions and aspect ratios. Althought this might seems marginal, this is when widescreen mode was introduced Android Auto 3.8: wireless funcionality and the floating action button were introduced, and with it the possibility to browse through lists with letters Android Auto 3.0: yeah it's 3.0, but it came out to block 3rd party apps (this is when Youtube Auto and AAMirror came out). Literally. So, folks, don't get your hopes too high for Android Auto 6.0, and remember: most of the times updating Android Auto is not the only thing that unlocks features since the major part of what you see on Android Auto is actually managed by Google Play Services, and the features are server-activated. This means that Android 6.0 will probably have more changes under the hood than in front end. But for now I want to give you just a taste of what is under the hood in the current version of Android Auto, and will likely come in the months to come:
We are quite near to Wallpapers introduction. This could actually come to Android Auto 6.0 but it can be activated right now. If you have a rooted phone check out AA AIO TWEAKER, the release that came out today has an option to activate this feature.
We are quite near to custom Assistant Shortcuts. This could actually come out very soon, but in Android 5.9 it's still not very polished (if you have a wallpaper other than "mountains" it's not showed up correctly). This feature is inside Android Auto 5.8 and you can learn more on what it does here. This feature too can be activated with AA AIO TWEAKER.
MultiDisplay. This is very very interesting. It's like very early stages, but this gives a whole new meaning to widescreen mode. I've made a whole post complaining on how the actual implementation of Widescreen mode is a total nonsense right now. Well, probably Google heard my complaints and this feature is actually really interesting. So the whole second space of widescreen mode is actually taken properly by a whole activity that can display full content and not just by clock, calendar and a damn widget. On top of this, Google is actually thinking to make a phone an extension of the main car's screen, and when this feature is activated, you can choose to make the phone show a map or a map with turn-by-turn indications. This feature is currently very not polished, it does not have translations, it does not support any other nav except Google Maps, and I actually expect to see more changes under the hood in Android 6.0, but will probably take months to be actually released. This feature too can be activated with AA AIO TWEAKER. On the left side, you can see my phone's screen.
VOIP calls support. Yes, Google is working on this, and there are hints to this in code. Google Duo, Google Meet and WhatsApp seems like will be early adopters. This won't probably make the cut on Android Auto 6.0.
GUI for messages: I can see CarPlay orphans screaming why WhatsApp has no icon in Android Auto all web long. This won't probably make the cut on Android Auto 6.0 and it's taking a long way to be developed (first hints were found in Android Auto 5.4 APK), but it can be activated but it's not functional at all. See more in this post
So all in all, the bottom line is: don't get your hopes so high for Android 6.0. Instead, hope that Google activates this features to you from their servers. Or get rooted and use AA AIO TWEAKER to have them early. And also, I want to remember everybody that Android Auto still lacks:
Proper support to dual SIM devices.
A setting to actually change day/night mode on Android Auto (users with aftermarket units are desperate for this, the only thing Google replies to them is a developer option, which is not even convenient)
No support whatsoever for quick actions in notifications (you know when somebody texts you an address and you have the button to open directly Google Maps on the notification itself? Why not make use of this operating system feature to start a navigation from notifications in AA?)
No option to selectively disable notifications for a certain app. I don't want Microsoft Teams notifications on Android Auto but I want to keep the app. The only way to stop this is by terminating Microsoft Teams. Why not giving me an option to disable it specifically on Android Auto? Even better? Since Android Auto is basically shipped with any Android 10 and 11 device out there and it's gradually becoming part of the OS, why not integrating an option for customizing Android Auto behaviour of a notification within the options of notification channels integrated in the OS?
Google Assistant in the background. You go into reverse, your parking camera fires and Google Assistant is gone. This is so annoying and it was never changed since 2015
Proper support of GSuite accounts
Gestures to navigate Android Auto. I cannot believe that you are required to hit a X on the side of a heads up notification instead of just sliding it up for dismissing it. This is standard in Android since Android 5. Even gestures with three fingers could be implemented. Like swiping with three fingers horizontally could switch from Maps to player to home etc.
Ever since Tim Cook became the new CEO of Apple, they've just been going downhill. I've been meaning to write this rant for months so I can use it whenever the argument comes up, but have been putting it off. I hate Apple and I am an Android user, so if you're looking for an unbiased rant this is definitely not it. In this rant I will highlight everything I hate about Apple, and why you should never support them or buy any of their products. This is a throwaway account so iOS fanboys don't attack everything I know. Let's hop right in to it: Planned Obsolescence Every device gets obsolete over time, with the latest updates (system & apps) demanding more resources that it can't provide. But Apple does this on purpose. Their OS detects what phone you have, and if it's old enough they'll slow it down on purpose, so you feel like you have to buy a new phone. They've been doing/planning this for years, and they still do. iTunes iTunes is literal garbage, and it's almost insulting. Why do I need a program, just to access most of my phone's contents? On Android, you can read and write all of the phones contents, while on iPhones, you can only read/copy over pictures and videos without installing iTunes. I am competent enough to drag files to and from my device, and I could do that if iPhones weren't read-only without their program. Installing iTunes on any non-Apple computer always puts hidden useless bloatware and files on your computer, like "iPad Service" "iPod Service" and even if I uninstall they never completely remove everything, every nook and cranny of my programs folders now has Apple garbage in them. Also why do you need an iCloud account just to download apps from the app store? They treat us like babies. Costs more, does less Why do Apple's newest phones cost over $1,000? I could buy an epic gaming PC with that money, or even a car if I'm lucky. The new "budget" iPhone 12 mini for $730 has the same price as the average Android, which can do more than their most expensive iPhone. Quite literally and quite literally. Jailbreaking your iPhone introduces features that already come with stock Android. And don't even get me started on their storage prices, storage is cheap nowadays yet they want you to pay big bucks a month while on Android you make a one time payment for a microSD card of your choice and you never have to pay again!! Seriously.e Android has way more customizability On an iPhone, you can't customize more than changing your wallpaper and turning on dark mode. On Android, you can download whatever phone scheme you want (from the galaxy themes app on samsung phones) and change the entire look of your phone (including the keyboard). Many more companies that make Android phones Because Android is open source, you will find many more manufacturers of Android phones than of iOS phones. This means you have many more options when it comes to what features you want and your budget. Apple users will claim that it's easier to buy from one company and a closed source, but it's really not, you're just lazy. Since there's many more options, if there's a company you don't like and has been making bad decisions recently (specifically samsung) then you can just go to another one. Apple is anti-consumer Apple is so anti-consumerthat it's overlooked by everyone. They removed the headphone jack, a feature every phone besides their newest ones has had for the last 15 years, so that they can charge you for a dongle just so you can use the headphone jack and charge at the same time. Like wtf, that makes absolutely no sense. If you're going to sell a headphone jack dongle, just include a goddamn headphone jack in your phones. They claim there's "no space" in the phone for the headphone jack, but that's an utter lie. You also have to buy dongles,JUST TO USE USB (not type C) on the newest MacBooks. That completely defeats the purpose of it being a portable laptop. If I wanted to use a million dongles just to use common USB items then I would've gotten a desktop computer. If I wanted a more portable option with less features then I would've just bought a phone. Just because it's thinner and has no fans doesn't mean it's better at all, stop removing ports from your computers Apple. Another thing they removed was the fingerprint sensor. Android phones have more ways to unlock your phone than you can count on one hand, and that includes both face recognition and a fingerprint sensor. They could've put the fingerprint sensor on the Apple logo on the back of their phones ever since the home button was removed, but they won't. They also tried suing a repair shop owner by the name of Henrik Huseby, who was apparently repairing iPhones with "non-genuine" parts. Apple, you must understand that once you buy the phone, you can do whatever the hell you want with it, because you own it. It's that simple. Apple also claims to want to "reduce environmental waste" while at the same time, the iPhone 12 is so ridiculously anti-repair that it's nearly impossible to do anything to it unless you send it to the "geniuses" over at Apple, which effectively creates more waste than they've ever saved. iPhones are very fragile Dropping your iPhone that's made completely out of glass from a foot off the ground is a guaranteed way to have it shatter in to a million pieces, so you better be careful because you paid over $1,000 for that phone. (And if you shatter the back glass, it's difficult to repair so you're better off just buying a new phone or sticking with shattered glass) Permanent notifications, in the settings app On both my old iPhone and my old iPad they had permanent notifications that you couldn't get rid of, in the settings app (stupidest app for that) to set up random things like Apple pay and 2FA, and if you ignore the notifications they'll just come back up. This is very annoying. Stealing features from Android, then making a big deal out of it With the last few iPhones, Apple has been making a big deal out of the new features they added, most of which Android has had for years. (Refer back to "Costs more, does less") things like widgets, swipe typing, default apps, 5G and more. (Yes, I know Android didn't create 5G, it's that Apple took so long to add it to their phones when the first 5G phones came out long before the iPhone 12. Be quiet Apple fans.) They don't include a charger or earbuds now It's always expected of phone manufacturers that they include at least a charger with their phones, but Apple can't even do that, and now you have to pay for it separately? Seriously, who the hell thought that was a good idea? And they're supposedly a "luxury" brand, yet can't even include cheap earbuds with new phones. This proves that they truly only care about the money. Android is much better for gaming The newest iPhone 12 only has 6GB of ram and 6 cores while a Huawei phone released 2 years ago has 8GB of ram and 8 cores, plus you can overclock your CPU and GPU on Android phones, so you're guaranteed to have a better gaming experience on the newest Android phones rather than the newest iPhones. No third party app stores or APKs on iOS If there's not an app available on the play store, you can download it in the form of an APK or a third party app store. Apple would never do that because they're so controlling of everything they sell. I know this makes piracy much easier, but that's really not a big deal. Some things Apple fans say on this topic are "It just works" Only if you have the newest phone which costs big bucks. (Refer back to "Planned Obsolescence") "It's simple and friendly, Android is too complex and I don't like the look of it" This is by far the dumbest one I've heard, Android is not complex at all, It's only complex if you make it complex. Android is just as friendly as iOS. If you don't like the look of it, you can customize it to look the way you want. (Refer back to "Android has way more customizability") "Brokedroid" "Every Android I've ever used is shit" Brokedroid? Lmao. So apparently now I can be unironically ridiculed because I didn't spend over $1,000 on my phone? iPhone, more like ShitePhone. If every Android phone you've ever used is shit, then you're using old garbage Android phones, use a newer one before you come to that conclusion. Apple was founded on April fools day, because their company is a joke. The biggest joke ever. That's about all I could think of and all I have to say about this topic, thank you for reading my rant. If you have anything for me to add to this rant (whether you like android or apple), comment it and I'll add it. Update: Here's more things I recently found out: During the Hong Kong Protests, Apple sided with China, removing a HK protest map from their app store.Source They fucking stand with China? China is a communist dictatorship and has one of the most corrupt governments in the world, this is proof they absolutely are evil. According to Apple: "We created the App Store to be a safe and trusted place to discover apps. We have learned that an app,HKmap.live*, has been used in ways that endanger law enforcement and residents in Hong Kong. Many concerned customers in Hong Kong have contacted us about this app and we immediately began investigating it. The app displays police locations and we have verified with the Hong Kong Cybersecurity and Technology Crime Bureau that the app has been used to target and ambush police, threaten public safety, and criminals have used it to victimize residents in areas where they know there is no law enforcement. This app violates our guidelines and local laws, and we have removed it from the App Store.*" Endangering law enforcement and residents? Apple is either lying (which is the most probable answer) or they're just fucking stupid and haven't done any research before removing this app. I bet 90% of these "reports" coming from "concerned customers" in HK are total bullshit. There are lots of apps and products you can buy to display the location of and listen to police radios. Apple is so fucking stupid. Apple bought the brand/company Beats just to kill them off and redirect people to their services So everyone knows about Beats by Dre, they were popular before Apple bought them. But Apple saw the competition, and bought Beats just to kill them off. That's why they have been slowly fading from peoples minds ever since the big purchase. Here's a video about it $1,000 piece of metal (the mac stand), $700 small plastic wheels (the mac pro wheels) and the $300 book literally filled with just images of old Apple products that probably took 1 hour to make. 3 letters:W h y ?

In light of FGO's removal from QooApp, here's a (hopefully) easy to understand guide on how to create a Google account in a different region. Before we begin: If you don't want to go through the hassle of doing all of this, at the moment you don't have to. There is a number of alternative ways to get the APKs for FGO of any region right now, two of which I will highlight in the next few paragraphs. Using the actual play store has three advantages over those methods, however, two minor and one major. First of all, it will allow you to get updates to the app as soon as they are out while mirror sites sometimes take a while before they get them. Secondly, it automatically updates the game whenever possible since it's installed like any other app. Finally, and this is the big one, it is future proof. As an example I point you towards Magia Record, another gacha game on the store. That one has a check built into the app and refuses to start unless it was installed from the official Google play store. Should a verification like that ever be implemented in FGO, a Google account will be your best bet to still access the game. Now let's look at some alternatives that are still working at the moment. First of all we have Apkpure. It is a site that mirrors any APKs available on the play store and comes with its own store app to easily update apps on your phone, including FGO of course. This is probably the easiest way of updating the game right now as it's basically the same principle as QooApp. Next up is the Aurora Store. It's a bit more complicated to set up since you need to go into Android's developer options to enable region spoofing, but comes with the advantage of getting its APKs directly from the official play store. Should Apkpure ever get nuked this will probably be your next best bet as it should always be able to access the APKs for the game no matter what. It does, however, not have the same level of system access as the play store, so an installation for apps like Magia Record would still be invalid. Still here? Good. Now without further ado, here's a step by step guide how I created a Japanese Google account. This works with any other region as well, of course, this is just as an example. The end goal is to be able to switch between your "main" play store and the store of your choice one on the fly, and having the ability to update FGO via the "My apps & games" menu in the store.
Connect to a VPN for the region of your choice (in my case JP), both on your phone and your PC. Honestly not sure if it's required, but might as well. A free VPN like Tunnel Bear should work.
Create a new Google account. Next, go into System Settings on your phone and search for "accounts" -> add the new Google account to your phone.
Go into the Play Store and tap on your account's icon next to the search bar. It will give you a list of all Google accounts on the phone. Select the newly created account, then open the menu (swipe from left to right) and pick "Payment methods". Add any payment option available to you (I used my Paypal). Don't worry about it, you will remove it later. This is just to initialize Google Pay for that account.
Go to Google Pay's address book, log in with your new account. It will currently have the address of the payment option you added (your Paypal address for example). Obviously we want to change that, so add a random Japanese address (if you want to create a JP account of course). I used this site because I was too lazy to think something up myself. You can leave the second address line empty. For the first, just copy what you get from the randomizer's "Address" field. In case you can't read moon runes, look at the field directly below it to get the city name (last item) and then look that one up on Wikipedia or something to get the prefecture.
Go to Google Pay Settings and click the edit icon next to "Country/Region". It will prompt you to create a new payment profile since the current one uses a non-Japanese payment method. Do that and put in the exact same information you used in step 4.
Still in Google Pay Settings, select the old profile at the top (the one that still has the payment option you added in step 3). Next, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on "close payment profile". Confirm your decision and voilà: Your account now only has the Japanese profile left. Go back to the address book and make sure the Japanese address is the only one left, just in case.
On your phone, tap and hold the Google Play icon. Select "App Info" (it might just be an "i") and then tap "Force stop". Next, go to "Storage & cache" and tap "Clear cache". Once that's done you can disconnect from the VPN as you no longer need it (again, not really sure if it's necessary in the first place; I just used mine to make sure). Edit:Only clearing the cache does not seem to work for some people. In that case, try the "Clear storage" option as well (same menu). Sometimes you have to do it more than once, restarting your phone might help too.
Open up the Play Store and make sure your new account is active (like in step 3). Next, select "Account" from the menu and scroll down. The "Country and profiles" section should now look like this (稗田雪野 is the name I picked for the account).
You can now switch between regions on the fly by simply selecting the appropriate account like in step 3. After updating FGO once it should also be updated automatically from that point onwards like any other app installed via the play store. And don't worry about the earlier version of FGO you had installed before, it should just update as normal. You should probably make a bind code beforehand though, just in case. Note to those who are not f2p: You will be unable to buy premium currency on any game installed with such an account as it does not have a payment option. There is a simple workaround, however: Just temporarily remove the new account from your phone (same settings as in step 2), burn your wallet, and then add it back again later And that's it. I'm not saying this is the only way of doing this, but it's how I got it to work so I thought I'd share. If you want to make an NA account the steps are the same, just put in a US address instead of a JP one. Edit 2: I rewrote the beginning of the post to make it easier to read and address some of the questions that came up. I would still recommend reading through the comments since there were a lot of good points raised there.

This was the simple yet easy method of Kodi for Android Download through the Google Play Store. We also have an alternate method that will get you the same version of the app but in a different way.
If you are unlucky enough, then Google Play will give you some trouble while downloading apps. Sometimes it will be server errors and other it will be insufficient storage. So, at the end of the day, you won’t be able to Kodi Download for Android. If that situation ever arises with you, then you shouldn’t be left without a solution. And there couldn’t be any better solution than this method here. Before getting into the nitty-gritty of the Kodi APK method, make sure that you have the Unknown Sources option enabled. You can get it down from Settings> Security. Although this setting differs in devices, this is the most common one. APK Description Details Latest version: 17.1 “Krypton” Requirement: Android 5.0+ Developers: XBMC Foundation File size: 85.0MB This is needed to allow the installation of apps from sources other than Google Play. Install Kodi App for iOS, iPhone, iPad
As we have mentioned earlier, Kodi Download is also available for the iOS platform. So, the iOS users won’t be left behind on using this great app like they are in the case of so many apps. Aside from that, there are two methods to install Kodi on iOS. None of them involves iTunes App Store because Kodi Download isn’t available on there. One is for jailbreak phones and the other one is for the non-jailbreak ones. But in this post, we are only going to focus on the non-jailbreak method. It is a good thing that you don’t have to jailbreak your iPhone and put it in jeopardy just to use an app. There are a few pre-requisites that you need to have to be able to carry out this method. They are;
After you have the above things, then only can you go ahead with this method. Install Xcode and iOS App Signer on your Mac and follow the steps to install the App on iOS devices.
Open Xcode and click “Create New Project“. Select Application from the left side of the resulting window.
Give a unique name and unique identifier to the project.
Click “Next” and Xcode will complain about an issue. Just click “FixIssue“.
Sign in with your Apple ID and password and click “Add“.
This will fix the issue and will no longer show the warning.
Launch the iOS App Signer app. Click the “Browse” button beside Input file.
For this, you will have to select the Kodi .deb file that you earlier downloaded.
Choose the Signing Certificate and Provisioning profile from the lists.
After that hit the start button on the iOS signer app.
This will create the IPA file of Kodi App for iOS.
After that, connect your device to your Mac.
Now, go back to the Xcode App and click Window from the top menu bar.
Select devices from the drop-down menu.
Choose your device from the left panel and then click the “+” button in the bottom left corner of the window.
Locate the IPA file that we created in the earlier steps and select it.
This will prompt Xcode to install the Kodi IPA file on your iPhone or whichever iOS device you have connected to the Mac. After the process in Xcode is over, disconnect your iOS device. Unlock it and you will find the freshly installed Kodi App and you can now use it without jailbreak.
Kodi for PC Windows 10/8.1/8/7 & Mac
Kodi App is also available for the Windows platform if you don’t know already. You can either get it from the Windows App Store or from the official website. The catch in getting the app from the Windows Store is that you can only download Kodi for Windows 8 and above. So the users with Windows XP, 7 or others would have to rely on the official website of Kodi. We will discuss both the methods in brief so as to give you a better idea.
Windows Store method
Open the Windows Store on your PC and click the search bar in the top-right corner of the screen.
Type Kodi in the field and hit the Enter key on your keyboard.
The Store will display the results based on the keyword used for the search.
Kodi Download will be on the top of the list. Click it and you will be redirected to its download page.
The app is free, so you need to click the “Free” tab which will start the download.
That is if you have already logged in with your Microsoft account. If you don’t have an account, then you can make onehere and then log in using that one.
Once the download is complete, the store will automatically install it on your PC and you can use it as you like.
Setup file download
Visit the official website of the app from this link: Kodi Download Website
This link will take you the Kodi download page for Windows platform.
You will find two links, one to download the Setup file and the other one to go the Store which we have seen already,
Click the tab marked “Installer” and the setup file download will start.
Once the setup file has been downloaded, go to the downloads folder double click the setup file.
This will open the installation wizard. Just follow the on-screen instructions which are really simple and you would have installed the Kodi App on your Windows PC.
So, these were the two ways in which you can install the app on your Windows PC. Note that the second method also works for all the versions of Windows but the first one only works on versions 8 and above. You can go either one of them because both of them work perfectly fine. Sprint LG V20 Model (LS997): Comprehensive Overview of Guides and Resources (and why most LS997 phones are unrootable)
Short summary:
The LS997 as a phone is generally only recommended to those on Sprint or its MVNOs and carriers whose frequency bands are fully covered by the phone.
The phone is known to re-lock APN settings to Sprint when upgrading a SIM-unlocked one from Android Nougat to Oreo.
Most are unrootable due to LG's anti-rollback enabled after May 2017. This includes every single one on stock Android Oreo.
Some older, rootable ones are disguised as US996 models on Android Nougat.
Rooted LS997s are generally limited to Nougat for stock-based ROMs, with very few attempts to cross-flash US996 stock Oreo, need LineageOS-based ROMs for Pie and higher
Details:
Since questions about this particular V20 variant still come up every once in a while, I figured I'd dump out almost all the information I know as there are many caveats to this model that do not apply to any of the other versions.
Reasons to own this model as a phone:
Your carrier is Sprint or one of its MVNOs in the U.S.
Your carrier's frequency bands are fully covered by the LS997.
Specific information for users on Sprint or one of its MVNOs:
LG V20 Sprint User Guide PDF document The Sprint network's current LTE bands are 25, 26, and 41. With the current merger with T-Mobile USA in progress, it's not clear yet what exactly will happen to these bands in the future. At this point, from what I've read, band 25 is staying, band 26 is set to be sold to the Dish network, and band 41 will eventually be repurposed to 5G. Sprint SIM card info:
Sprint is a weird carrier that is different from most for a number of reasons:
You cannot switch SIM cards between phones as a phone's IMEI number and the SIM card's number are tied together at the time the phone is activated. And like Verizon, Sprint keeps a whitelist of IMEI numbers, so they control which types of phones can be activated on their network, regardless of whether a phone supports all their frequency bands or not.
Sprint SIM cards have many different types that are only compatible with certain phone models. They can also be reused, even when switching phone numbers.
The type of Sprint SIM card needed for the LS997 is SIMGLW416Q. Unfortunately, with the nanoSIM card size, that part number is no longer printed on the card itself. Instead, you see some distinct numbers on the bottom below the long ICCID number of the card: either 80.01a as seen here or 80.02a here
On the motherboard, there are 4 pairs of pins below the cameras, and the ones labeled "SP" are activated on the LS997, as seen in this thread (the printed VS995 on the board has no meaning in this case).
As far as I'm aware, the LS997 only exists officially in the Titan Gray color.
Software versions
Sprint, like AT&T, never provides separate KDZ files for their firmware, and LG Bridge is not supported. Updates are only available over-the-air (OTA), but unlike AT&T, you don't need to have a Sprint SIM card or be on Sprint's network.
Software versions starting with LS997ZV are on Android Nougat while LS99720a is on Android Oreo.
Anti-rollback protection (ARB)
Unfortunately, starting with software version LS997ZV8 in August 2017, hardware-based anti-rollback protection has been enabled, changing from ARB0 to ARB1. This means that you cannot downgrade, and any attempt to cross-flash firmware from a different model will permanently brick the phone. Since Sprint does not provide firmware outside OTA, you are essentially stuck with the software version you get at this point. I'm assuming that by now, most LS997 phones out there fall under this category. In this state, it is the only V20 model that is unrootable. (And in case someone asks, I have heard of users on the XDA forums using an exploit to get temporary root on a locked down LS997 on ARB1. I don't know the details on that, but this stuff seems very unsafe and can easily brick your phone with no way to recover if you don't know what you're doing.) So, the last software version on ARB0 is LS997ZV7 with Android security patch level date of May 1, 2017. This is also the last version where the phone can be rooted and manually SIM-unlocked (see below).
SIM unlocking
Like AT&T's H910 and T-Mobile's H918, an actual untouched LS997 comes carrier-locked out of the box.
If the phone is on software version LS997ZV7 or earlier, then it can simply be manually SIM-unlocked following this procedure from the XDA forums. Alternatively, cross-flashing the phone with US996 firmware on Android Nougat will also SIM-unlock it.
According to many users, when a SIM-unlocked LS997 is updated from any software version on Android Nougat to Oreo, then the APN settings are re-locked to Sprint. And if you happen to have an LS997 already on Oreo that is SIM-unlocked, then I highly advise against doing a factory reset as that could also re-lock the APN settings.
Per Sprint's unlock policy, a Sprint-branded phone has to be active on Sprint (not one of its MVNOs) for at least 50 days to be eligible for an official SIM unlock.
Some people have been able to get this issue fixed by contacting a Sprint employee on the official Sprint forums, as documented in this XDA thread, although you probably have to be either a current or former Sprint customer or have the account information of the previous owner on Sprint. Update: Since the merger, the Sprint forums have turned to read-only mode, so I'm not sure if there's still a way to contact that employee.
There are paid unlock services out there that are supposedly able to do the SIM unlock remotely, but I haven't seen anyone yet who has done this on here or the XDA forums.
FWIW, there is a similar case with re-locking APN values on the Sprint LG G8 going from Android Pie to 10, and there seems to be a workaround using a small app to add new APN values, according to this thread.
Disabling auto-update and official update notification
As there are several reasons not to take an OTA update, depending on your needs and the phone's currently installed software version, you may want to turn off automatic system updates and related notifications:
Under "Developer options" in Settings (if not visible, enable it by going to "About phone" -> "Software info" and tap "Build number" 7 times), disable "Automatic system updates"
For the system update notification that shows up on every boot, I simply long-pressed the notification and blocked it. This seems to block notifications from Google Play Services, but I haven't noticed missing any important notifications from doing so. There may be other ways by disabling certain services as mentioned in this XDA thread, starting at the bottom half of the page.
Missing LG apps
The Sprint V20 is one of the variants with most of the LG stock apps missing. At least on Nougat, users have been able to restore some of them without root access:
I haven't seen any reports on someone doing this on Oreo, but at least certain versions of the LG Music can be installed, with links to working apks to install for both Nougat and Oreo found here:
Older LS997 models disguised as unlocked US996 variants
As mentioned before, LS997 phones on software from May 2017 or earlier can be cross-flashed with US996 firmware on Android Nougat. This type of "disguised" US996 has been sold mostly outside the U.S. as either an unlocked US996 (even though it does not have the same LTE bands as a real US996) or an unlocked LS997. The one reason for getting one of these is if you want to have a rootable LS997. While it may not be easy to pick one out online on places such as eBay without specifically asking the seller about the software version, a good bet is to look for a description that mentions an LS997 working both on Sprint and being GSM unlocked worldwide. Since the LS997 is much more difficult to SIM unlock on Oreo and cannot be cross-flashed with anything starting with software version LS997ZV8 due to anti-rollback, the odds of such a listing being a rootable Sprint V20 is decently high. A redditor got one of these on eBay not too long ago to replace a broken one:
Everything described from this point on will require an LS997 that has not been updated past May 2017, as in software version LS997ZV7 or older.
Root access
Like most V20 variants, the rather lengthy "DirtySanta" method is used to install custom recovery and gain root access on the LS997. The general steps specific to the Sprint V20 are outlined in the following guide:
And here are some (or maybe a bit more than "some") pointers that may not be mentioned in the guide or may not be obvious from the descriptions:
If the phone's software is from December 2016 (version LS997ZV5) or earlier, then it may be possible to skip the cross-flashing step in the beginning.
If you do have to cross-flash using the patched LGUP, for more details on how to do that, follow the first nine bullet points in this guide but replace the H915 KDZ with the VS995 firmware VS99512A_06_1114_ARB00.kdz found here:
I originally got the VS995 KDZ from the popular LG firmware page https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-vs995-firmwares/#tab=firmwares but I found that the site has gotten less ad blocker friendly over the past few years. I can confirm that the file I downloaded back then has the same MD5 hash value as the one on the AndroidFileHost link.
After cross-flashing and booting up, you may face a startup screen asking for a password. If that happens, simply do a factory reset: With the phone off, hold down both volume-down and power buttons until the reset screen shows up (this is different from how you do it later - see below), then select yes twice to reset.
Besides the general DirtySanta procedure linked in the guide above, there is another more user-friendly general procedure found here:
I recommend looking over both procedures to make sure you're familiar with all the steps involved.
If cross-flashed with VS995 firmware, be aware that at some point in the procedure, the phone will start constantly vibrating as a side effect.
Some time after TWRP recovery is flashed in Step 3 of the procedure, you may have to enter recovery mode with the phone off to continue. The button combination is slightly different from before:
With the phone off, hold down both volume-down and power buttons, then release the power button for one second, then hold it down again while still keeping the volume-down button pressed. This will bring up the factory reset screen like before, but when you select yes twice, it won't actually do a reset but instead enter TWRP.
Before flashing an LS997 ROM at the end, you'll want to update TWRP with a version that is specific to the LS997. You can find all TWRP versions here:
To update/change TWRP versions (it doesn't matter if it's a newer or older version), transfer the IMG file to your phone's internal storage or a microSD card, then enter TWRP. In TWRP, select Install, then "Install Image", then pick your IMG file and select Recovery from the list of partitions shown. After done flashing, return to the main home screen, select Reboot, then Recovery to enter the newly installed TWRP version.
FWIW, some users on various V20 models have had problems installing ROMs on TWRP versions higher than 3.2.3-4, so you may want to try 3.2.3-4 first. The last time I installed a ROM on my LS997, these higher versions did not exist, so I cannot tell if the issue exists on this model or not.
Besides all the comments found in the various XDA threads, you can find some more troubleshooting discussions in the following thread where a redditor went through the procedure early this year:
For LG stock-based ROMs, you're limited to Android Nougat since no one so far has figured out how to root stock Oreo on this phone model. To get Oreo or higher, you'll have to go with non-stock AOSP/LineageOS-based ROMs, but you'll lose certain features such as VoLTE, Wi-Fi calling, FM radio, stock second screen functions, LG apps such as the LG camera, and some Sprint functions (activation, some dialer codes, update PRL and update profile functions). Basically, for the LS997, you can generally only pick 2 of the following 3:
LG stock functions
Android Oreo
Full root access
Now, some of you might be wondering: What if you initially cross-flashed old US996 firmware on Nougat, then did the whole rooting procedure treating it as an US996 and tried to install a stock-based US996 Oreo ROM? I have not seen anyone do that yet, so I guess no one has dared to or had a good reason to try this.Update (January 2021): There are a couple of users at the XDA forum who have done this, and you can see that thread here for more information. Sprint stock-based ROM:
If your carrier is Sprint or one of its MVNOs and you want to keep all stock functions, then the ROM of choice is Classic Rom which is based on LS997ZV7 firmware. This is what I use on my daily driver LS997.
You'll want to pair this ROM with the mk2000 BTTF custom kernel, which is the most popular kernel for stock-based Nougat ROMs. It includes removal of LG's root checking tool (RCTD, more info here) and support for KCAL screen settings which helps getting rid of most screen retention when used with a kernel manager. The last version of the kernel, BETA 2, can be found here (the original file in the main XDA thread had broken parts, but luckily, another user fixed them for the LS997):
If you plan on using any of the above ROMs on Sprint or one of its MVNOs as your carrier, make sure that the phone has previously already been activated on a stock-based ROM since there are no activation functions in these ROMs. And if you get no cell signal, then you may have to change a few settings as shown in this XDA forum post.
Some users also had problems getting a signal on LineageOS 17.1, and one fix seems to be installing LineageOS 16 first and then flashing 17.1 on top of it as mentioned in this post.
Returning from a rooted phone to complete stock (not recommended)
And finally, mostly for educational purposes, a while back, a procedure was posted to return a rooted LS997 back to stock:
At this point, I see little reason for anyone to try this, and I don't know if there is a way to recover if something went wrong in the middle of the procedure.
Note: If you do this, you will lose Essential's Camera on your phone. If you invested in the 360 Camera, I would advise you to skip this article. As the story goes, I somehow managed to trick Google into believing that my Essential PH-1 is a Pixel XL, and I have proof that it works. The process was lengthy and some of how I did it still escapes me, but I've seen some interest in learning the details of how exactly this occurred. So here is my account of the event. I recently upgraded my standard, black PH-1 to the new DP5 (Beta 3) of Android P, and so far, I've been pleased with the new OS. The navigation features have become second nature, and I've found it hard to go without them. (Once I tried downgrading back to Oreo, but I kept trying to swipe up on the home button for my recents, so I came back to P as my daily driver.) Then, a few days later, I spotted an Essential PH-1 rooting article for DP5 on Reddit. I was a bit skeptical to try it, as most of my previous rooting attempts failed miserably, especially in the case of my last phone, the HTC Desire 530. (Insert laugh track here.) But, I'm a stubborn dev, so I decided to go for it. Besides the shock that the process had actually worked, I was excited to try all the root apps that i had been dying to use since I had first tried to uninstall bloatware from my first smartphone, an HTC One M7. (I'll try to stop the nostalgia now, but, literally, this was a big achievement for me.) I installed apps like Root Explorer and Terminal Emulator first thing. My first Pixel-oriented move was to change my boot screen. I used BootAnimation.zip by Oliver Miller. I selected the white Google boot logo as my choice, then simply rebooted, and there it was. The only problem with this was, of course, the difference between the boot animation and the boot splashscreen. So, in my second move, I found this tutorial on XDA about how Essential phones handle splashscreens and how to change them. I extracted the first frame from the boot animation as my splashscreen base, then used the scripts attached to the article to pack it into a flashable splash.img file. If you want to skip past the BS and download and flash it yourself, I will host the file I made on Google Drive. After this, I did some shopping for magisk modules using Magisk Manager. If you followed the process above, You should have it pre-installed on the device. The ones I installed were: xmlpak - A road to vendor apps Android P Fonts And Emojis Daydream Enabler GCam Mod Enabler (MUST BE DOWNLOADED FROM XDA as it is not on the Magisk Module list in-app.) Google Lens Enabler Force Fast Charge (Not sure if this makes a significant difference. I've seen build.prop modifications that didn't work.) Pixel Experience (From which I selected Customized Pixel Launcher as my system-installed launcher.) Those are all the modules I have now, aside from the camera mod, which I will explain in the next step. So, the GCam Mod enabler is supposed to enable a camera API in android that GCam uses for processing. It installs a funky version of ARCore to the system which I wasn't able to update via the Play Store, as Google recommended. So, your best bet here is to follow the XDA article and download a modded apk after installing the module. After that, find a way to manually uninstall the patched ARCore from your system, then go to the store and fill it with the real deal. Then, uninstall the Modded GCam and replace that with the latest Google Camera Apk from APK Mirror. Overall, I'm unsure if the mod enabler and apk are necessary, but that's the way I did it. after this, you should have Stock GCam with Lens and ARStickers enabled. Just like a Pixel. You can also use the store to get more sticker packs, but I would suggest a google web search for "ARSticker apps" so that you can link to the apps directly instead of dealing with hidden device checks on the Play Store. Now, this is what I suspect the true change was... Pixel Experience changed my device name from "Essential PH-1" to "Pixel XL" on a system level. This must be what play Services checks to find compatible apps, which, to me, seems to be kind of flimsy. Whatever, Google. You do you. Still, I'm unsure of on what scale this affects app compatibility checks. If I change my device ID to "Moto E4", does that mean I can get Moto File Manager? (ew.) So this completed my device's "transition" (excuse the subtle sex change reference here.) from an Essential to a Pixel. It's still not perfect, though. In my opinion, the product sans as every font is a bit... much, as every Google product, even Pixels, have a good balance of PS and Roboto these days. Also, the lack of rounded corners on things like the quick settings, notifications, and dialogs is a bit annoying. Once Essential fixes per-app notch settings, I can fix this with the new Power Notifications app from Treydev. And now, my proof. Later on, I found myself looking at Pixel 2 Designs for Android P, and wound up at the beta page for Pixels, where I saw this: How?!?!? So, as you can see, I was able to "Opt In" to a beta program I shouldn't even be a part of. But, in the end, it doesn't matter. Essential hardware is virtually the same as the Pixel 2, minus the squeeze sensor and the mod port. So, in the end, every phone has the potential to become a Pixel someday. 😉 For the results on this little experiment, you can check out the album found here. Please read the captions for proper descriptions.
RR VS SRH; MATCH 45; MATCH HIGHLIGHTS, RR VS SRH TODAY MATCH PREDICTION, FANTASY TIPS, PLAYING XI; VIVO IPL 2019; RAJASTHAN ROYALS VS SUNRISERS HYDERABAD

SRH still have their destiny in their own hands with four matches to play in the IPL 2019 session and will need three wins to confirm their playoffs qualification. Head to Head Statistics- RR and KKR have played 10 matches in the IPL history so far whereby the Royals have won 4 matches and remaining 6 have been surrender under the Knight Riders leaving not even a single match with no result. Match Highlights- With Jonny Bairstow not present for the remainder of the season, a lot has to be done to reconfigure the balance of the SRH team hoping to win the fixtures ahead. Kane Williamson will be seen back in the game after wrapping up the grandmother’s loss at his place. Mohammad Nabi might get consideration for the next match instead of Shakib Al Hasan. Archer has done a good job in the RR team previously and will be an asset for the RR squad against KKR in the upcoming IPL fixture today. Riyan Parag looks a genuine all-rounder and can bat at four after Stokes’ departure. He is also a good option to make the captain or vice-captain. Last five completed T20 matches: (Most recent- first) Rajasthan Royals – W, L, W, L, W Sunrisers Hyderabad – L, W, W, L, W Predicted Playing XI (Rajasthan Royals) - Sanju Samson (wk), Ajinkya Rahane, Steve Smith (C), Riyan Parag, Ashton Turner, Stuart Binny, Ish Sodhi, Shreyas Gopal, Jaydev Unadkat, Varun Aaron, Oshane Thomas. Predicted Playing XI (Sunrisers Hyderabad) – David Warner, Kane Williamson (c), Manish Pandey, Vijay Shankar, Yusuf Pathan, Wriddhiman Saha, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sandeep Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed. Though the KKR squad looks strong with its playing XI and the previous squad performances and records, still their chances of winning the today’s IPL fixture is bit less as compared to Royals. Royals are lagging behind the KKR in the IPL statistics scoreboard but are higher with their points and may survive having the home advantage too, in their hand. Fantasy Power 11 bets the Rajasthan Royals to win the today IPL fixture and KKR to work really very hard on the ground to sustain its survival. Yeah, who is the next saraz1? The next hero of this sub ? I know guys, you love me, i'm not leaving. I can't leave all your upvote for my view on ruben and cesc. That's my drug. But how can you shut my mouth, how can you know about x ? Here some help.
How to watch matches? I really encourage you to pay a subscription to watch the PL and the european football. You will get Full HD quality, you will get the replay, the post match reaction. And you will always have something to watch. Sometimes, you are bored, ea servers are down like always so watch some matches that you will not usually watch. Poor ligue 1 side, seria team that you don't know etc. If you can't pay, or if you don't want. Go to :
https://www.reddit.com/soccerstreams/ You will always find link for the matches, sometimes in FULL HD. i recommend you to use ACESTREAM links. You can get the app for Android , if you use kodi you can download Plexus
SoccerBetting is a dream for us. Last year, i followed VVV Venlo. Do you really think i give a shit about Eredivise ? No. But they have been a good team and there was a lot of tip about them last year. It's not about the money, i mean i tip 0.5€. After one year i only had enough to pay me a funko pop lol. But when i was at home, doing nothing i watched VVV Venlo because i had money on them. I learned a lot from the Eredivise, the style etc. I don't regret it. Do that for Napoli, Marseille, that will force you to watch match that are not necessarily your cup of tea but you will learn a lot from that.
How to follow all the team, the scores, etc ?
I'm on android, so i don't know anything about IOS sorry. For android i use two app FotMob!, i love it because you have all the channel who will broadcast the match, it make it easier to find a stream for ex. I also use Soccer Scores for the scores, the bets, the league table, the next matches etc. If you have both of them, shoud be perfect ( you can for ex add a reminder for some matches 1h before kick off etc )
Now that the matches are over, how can watch the replay ?
The best solution is Full Matches & shows ( you will get the full matches in the comments ). That's a perfect solution, it take times because weshare, okru etc are slow but at the end of the day, you will watch full matches with no problem. Look, ofc it's better the watch the all 90 min but if you can't, fair play. It takes lot of time to watches all the matches and stuff. At the end of the day, the highlights are better than nothing. But if you do that, please, watch MOTD, ( Canal football club si t'es francais ) please watch the post match analysis etc. So you can have some context.
the best website is Whoscored. You will find everything about the PL and the CL. The match stats, preview for the next one, etc. That's the best one for the team.
If you want to compare players , the best one is Squawka.
if you want to have some other stats, i use ESPN because they also show the Carabao cup & the FA cup.
For the financial pov, injury etc, i use Transfermarkt
So if i want to see how Palace is doing, i will use Whoscored. To compare Ruben vs Cesc i will use Squawka, to see if Ruben has played in the cup i use espn. To know how many years have ruben left in his contract i use transfermarkt.
Google Now might be getting a new, more human voice: This week, a youtube user put out a video demonstrating a new, more human voice that his Google Now assistant is using. The video is worth watching -- the changes are mostly in the way the voice’s inflection, but it has a noticeably more human cadence in its speech than the older predecessor. No word on whether this will ever make it out of test seeds, or if it’s even real, but interesting nevertheless.
Google is building a Amazon Echo competitor: Ever since the Echo launched last year, enthusiasts have been asking where Google’s response to the product was. It seemed like a no-brainer; putting Google’s highly functional personal assistant Google Now into a device that works in your home seemed completely logical. It turns out, it was, and Google has been working on a competitor for Amazon’s assistant device.
Pebble lays off 25% of work force: Wearables are quickly becoming a crowded market, especially with Apple and Google now having their first-party options in wild. Pebble, one of the first (and only) third-party smartwatch companies, seems to be feeling the crunch: the company laid off 25% of its work force this week, citing financial concerns.
Chromecast is now Google Cast: Well, not the device. But the product page for Google’s transmission standard now calls itself “Google Cast” instead of sharing a name with the product. Do what you will with this information.
HTC M10 Benchmarks: As we approach the launch of HTC’s new flagship, the leaks are flying, and this week we were treated to a picture that features some benchmarks. I can’t tell you what these benchmarks mean, but I bet someone can!
This Week In Apps:
Pokemon Go Info: The Pokemon Company released some information on the anticipated Pokemon Go, an augmented reality game for smartphones due out this year. Clicking through that link details pokemon catching, how the hotspots in the real world will work, and how you’ll join a tea m and fight at gyms to compete for prizes.

For those that don't know, Niantic can't detect Spoofers (they can not. I already explained why to some users, but I'll keep a short explanation here at the end). Niantic can detect root on Android and they disallowed rooting (to many genuine players dismay, as there are non-cheating reasons to root a Phone). Google was doing something similar with their Android Pay, banning users with root, for security reasons. So, power users developed an invisible root (real name redacted). Goggle can't detect it and so it isn't banned from Android Pay. Likewise, Niantic can't detect it, so they can't detect when someone is spoofing either. What can they do right now? Nothing from the prevention side. The best bet would be balancing the game away from rewarding spoofing.
Populating every area with pokemon (with biomes and nests being used just for higher probabilities), not just near nests and pokestops, would incentivize anyone to play naturally instead of insta-warping around. This would also include region exclusives. No reason for collectors to spoof now.
Changing the gyms to coinless affairs (the rewards should be something common, like CP, XP, candy or dust), would remove the incentive to the cheap spoofers that want the 100 daily coins. The coins should be rewarded by daily/weekly non-competitive quests. Stuff like catching 3 different pokemon, catching a "what is this pokemon" (you'd have a shadow you'd have to identify and catch), etc. As it is, only competitive players are rewarded with coins, and spoofers take most of them.
Giving a daily pokeball allowance, let's say 20 pokeballs, or maybe the ability to create a personal pokestop at home or work, and having the pokemon heal and revive over time (lets say, 24 hours to go full HP), would lower the incentive to spoofers that don't have access to pokestops, and need to spoof to get a few pokeballs to play.
This would mitigate spoofers, because there would be less reasons for people to cheat. It'd create a cascading effect, less people looking for how to cheat, less information on how to cheat. Some would still cheat, sure, but the effort would be barely worth it. And bonus, the game would be funner to legit players as well. So why can't Niantic detect spoofers? Niantic does what it can, namely detect mock locations (used by fake gps apps to fake a location), and refuse to run the app in a system root. Smart gps spoofers request root access so they leave mock locations disabled. They only enable it for a very small fraction of time when updating the GPS. The game app cycle will probably never catch the mock locations enabled this way. So Niantic disabled root phones from playing. How do they do this? They simply detect the normal root folders and apks in the system partition. So any spoofers using a regular root can't play. This is the same technique used by Google to secure it's Android Pay app. The problem is, the latest root does not use the system partition. It actually flashes the boot.img of the phone, and as of know, it is impossible to easily detect. Google (and Niantic) haven't been able to detect this root so far, because each boot.img is slightly different, from phone to phone and version to version, so it's nearly impossible to know if the file was tampered with. Where it stands right now? Non-root spoofers can't spoof because no mock locations. Regular root spoofers can't play due to root being detected. Systemless root spoofers can play, and can't be detected (these are the spoofers you see playing).
Ionic is a complete open-source SDK for hybrid mobile app development created by Max Lynch, Ben Sperry and Adam Bradley of Drifty Co. in 2013. Ionic is world’s most popular cross platform mobile development technology. Basically it’s hybrid mobile app development framework. Using Apache Cordova, it can be easily run on mobiles. A big advantage of using Ionic is that the code base remains the same for all mobile platforms and the UI/UX looks like a native mobile platform. The good news is: if you can manage to create websites, you already know how to build mobile apps. Ionic Framework offers the best web and native app components for building highly interactive native and progressive web apps. It is the only mobile app stack which allows developers to design apps for all app stores and the mobile web, using an unique code base. Moreover, Ionic’s Platform Continuity guarantees your app will look superb on every single device. Ionic provides tools and services for developing hybrid mobile apps using Web technologies like CSS, HTML5, and Sass. Apps can be built with these Web technologies and then distributed through native app stores to be installed on devices by leveraging Cordova.
Benefits of Ionic Framework
Platform Independent Framework- Ionic can recognize the platform specific advanced CSS proportional to the native look and feel on different mobile operating systems. It reduces the requirement for code changing as it gives the codes of mobile-optimized HTML, JS, and CSS components. Apart from this, ionic integrates into Angular JS which becomes a robust structure making code excellent as well as more manageable. This empowers the Start-up entrepreneurs to come out with newer concepts at reduced budget. Cross-Platform Mobile App Development with Ionic- Building an application without a moment's delay is essential, and it should be compatible with all mobile devices. However, it needs extremely limited use of time, assets and efforts, and helps in giving a unified look and feel. Besides, Ionic helps with building applications quickly and with expertise, and deploys standard tools with a solitary code base. Default User Interface- Ionic has many default CSS and JS parts that cover the vast majority of the basic things you need to make a mobile application. . Apart from regular ones like buttons and navigation it also includes form inputs, lists, cards, sliding boxes and many more. These can be easily customized by adding CSS classes to the element. The default styles are basic, smooth, and you can without a doubt redo them by adding pre-defined CSS classes to the component. Based on AngularJS- If you’ve worked upon Ionic, and then you would likely realize that it is developed on top of the Angular JS framework. The extensions to HTML's sentence structure offered by AngularJS are extremely useful for mobile app designers. The Ionic structure utilizes AngularJS to offer a bunch of center functionalities to the designer with the goal that they can incorporate alluring components into the application. AngularJS is an ideal approach to make program based applications, while with the assistance of the Ionic structure, versatile designers can make hybrid applications and web applications. Utilizes Cordova Plugins- Plugins play an essential part in Ionic application development. Modules are coded in JavaScript and come appended to the application. Ionic framework application development utilizes Cordova plugins to help designers in accessing different components of the versatile framework- for example, camera, GPS, and so on. According to your business and offered administrations, mobile app developers can utilize any of these modules to build their ideal mobile application.
There are a few good reasons to go with Ionic, depending on what you would be using it for:
Ionic use Angular’s MV* paradigm: If you are a web developer and want to be able to compete in the mobile space Ionic is great for you. Ionic uses HTML and CSS to lay out its views, so not only will you have all of the power of CSS transitions and canvas drawing, but you will also feel at home with the DOM. If you’ve ever used Angular in production, this will be doubly true for you, because the logic layers of Ionic use Angular’s MV* paradigm.
Desktop support: Ionic has added a flexible grid, and split-pane type features, allowing you to build mobile-first apps with responsive desktop layouts.
Open Web Standards: To paraphrase one of their founders, you’re betting on the open web, rather than getting stuck learning single-platform technologies that don’t carry over. (e.g. Learning CSS and DOM layouts versus Xcode’s autolayout)
Progressive Web Apps: This is a big trend on Google and Ionic’s radar, and it seems like Ionic is uniquely positioned to let you build app-class web experiences that can also be published in the App Store.
If you are bootstrapping a start-up and want to cut development time and cost by leveraging existing skill sets, Ionic is one of the best choices. Ionic creates apps for iOS, Android and Windows. It has default CSS that changes between versions for a Native experience. And all this can be done in JavaScript which is one of the most common programming languages known by developers now because of its ubiquity on the web. There are other frameworks around now that can achieve this in different languages, but most of them are not as popular or have as much support. So unless you have a specific reason you need to use python, Ruby, C++, Java etc. stick with Ionic or React Native in JavaScript or Xamarin in C#. Those are the most mature communities for cross-platform apps.
If you are new to web/mobile development the skills you will learn making things with Ionic will take you a lot further than what you will get with native. JavaScript is everywhere. It is more popular than Swift, and more importantly, it can be used for a lot more things. Java is really popular as well, but in my opinion, JavaScript seems to be slowly taking over Java’s position in the web development world. Companies that were built on java will stick around for a long time, but many new ones are being built on stuff like JavaScript, Ruby, Go and the like. And yes that list will be different in a few years, but Java will not be making it back on, and JavaScript will be the longest lasting one that is around for now.
Ionic Community: There’s a community of over 30,000 members on the Ionic forum, an active Slack Channel, and Ionic is the 45th or so most populastarred repo on Github.
